In Vietnam, Except has a team of 6 people, working on delivering strategy and concept design services. We are also developing the first sustainability center in Vietnam, called ViCo, for which this role will be important.

The Role

We’re building the first sustainability center in Vietnam - ViCo, and we’re seeking the individual who knows how to transform vision into narrative, complexity into clarity, and strategy into a compelling story.

We need a sharp, independent Communication Specialist who’s ready to dive into what ViCo stands for and help shape its public voice across Vietnam and beyond. This role blends storytelling, relationship-building, and creative experimentation with a dose of strategy and boldness.

You’ll work with Except’s Vietnam team to launch ViCo into the spotlight. That includes producing and hosting a podcast series, crafting bilingual stories and social media content, and helping translate our systems-thinking work into engaging formats for the public, partners, and press.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and run ViCo’s communication across platforms from strategy to execution.
• Write, translate, and publish stories, posts, and updates in Vietnamese and English.
• Host and produce a recurring podcast and interview series with our team and partners.
• Turn technical work and abstract ideas into content people connect with.
• Capture and share moments from events, workshops, and behind-the-scenes action.
• Coordinate media outreach and build relationships with local press.
• Take care of our communication channels, produce smart content, and help the audience grow steadily.
• Occasionally, help with internal communication, like team updates or project summaries.

Required

• 3+ years of experience in communications, journalism, marketing, or related fields.
• Outstanding writing and storytelling skills in English and Vietnamese.
• Strong understanding of social media platforms and digital tools.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Based in Ho Chi Minh City.
• Has responsibility and self-management skills: Working from home and on-the-go is the norm with us; we do not have a fixed office in Vietnam yet.

Bonus Points

• Experience with sustainability, urban development, or systems thinking.
• Familiarity with design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe InDesign).
• Network of media contacts in Vietnam.
• Basic knowledge of SEO and analytics tools.

What we offer

• A full-time position, 32 hours per week, flexible, located in Ho Chi Minh City.
• A compensation range of $500-$800 Net per month, depending on your experience.
