RCT aims to create solutions for urban challenges by connecting companies with advanced knowledge partners, fostering new projects through collaboration.
Regenerative Community Tokyo (RCT) is Japan's first sustainable knowledge institute, situated in Tokyo's new "SAAI" Wonder Working Community. Its mission is to tackle complex urban challenges through collaborative efforts that transcend traditional corporate and administrative boundaries. Except served as the lead strategy, concept, and business model developer for RCT, guiding the project from its inception to implementation, as well as design support for the interior design of the community.
Built on our experience in creating sustainability and knowledge communities such as the Utrecht Community (UCo) and Rotterdam Community (RoCo) in the Netherlands, we embarked on a co-creation process with partners Mitsubishi Estate Company and Build Vision B.V. to create the framework, strategy, and rollout plan for RCT.
RCT employs a regenerative philosophy that emphasizes restoring the natural environment's intrinsic vitality. By connecting businesses, government bodies, academic institutions, and research entities, RCT fosters an environment where innovative solutions can emerge through collective expertise and cutting-edge technology. RCT enables this through knowledge exchange, start-up, networking, and innovation programs.
RCT was covered in WIRED magazine in Japan. The article highlights how RCT is envisioned as a "hub for systemic change" and a step toward achieving a regenerative urban future.
